About Pune City: Pune (Poona) is located in western India and is the 7th largest city in India. It is a three hour drive from Mumbai (formerly Bombay), the commercial capital of India.
Getting To Pune: Pune is well connected to all major cities in India. However it’s important to book early if you wish to get a good air deal. As for trains, it’s important to book early if you wish to get any reservation at all. If you are traveling to Pune from out of India, it’s best to take a flight to Mumbai and then get to Pune by road. Pune has few international flights, so getting a convenient flight and a good fare is rather difficult. Mumbai to Pune should take you between 3 to 4 hours by road.
Transport Options within the city: To travel within the city, you can use autorickshaws or the Pune Corporation run buses. The rickshaws charge you as per the meter and a distance of 2 kms would cost about Rs. 20. The city bus service is useful & functional but not the most efficient. The bus tickets are fairly cheap but you might also have to wait for long periods at the bus stops. Though there are no taxi cab stands in the city, you can book a cab through the Wings Radio Cab service by calling 40100100 or TravelTime at 66000000. The taxis are air-conditioned and comfortable to travel in. They offer 24 hour service and can be especially useful for airport pickups.
Stay while at the conference: The conference venue is located in the Deccan area of town. To book a room at the hotel, pls write to email@example.com /call the hotel and mention that you are booking for the “IndicThreads Conference”.

Fergusson Road and Jungli Maharaj Road are young and happening places with many colleges, book stores, cafes, restaurants and boutiques. There are also numerous places for nature lovers such as the Sinhagad Fort and the Bird Santuary at Ujni Dam. Museums such as the Kelkar Museum and the Mahatma Phule museum which is within walking distance from the conference venue, are also famous for their collection of artifacts.
